Position: Community Climate Hub Facilitator
Organization: Ecosource
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Ecosource Is Seeking Community Climate Hub Facilitator 14-week contract position; 35 hours per week; September to December 2025
Who we are: Ecosource is an innovative environmental organization that empowers the community to become more environmentally responsible through creative public education. The position: Ecosource is seeking a Community Climate Hub Facilitator to animate creative, hands-on climate education programming for community members of various ages at our Community Climate Hub, a facility that includes an outdoor classroom, community garden, and teaching kitchen. The Facilitator will work in collaboration with the Ecosource team to engage community members in cooking and gardening with local food, outdoor play & discovery, and hands-on environmental learning. The successful candidate will support a weekly cooking program for older adults, a nature play workshop series for children 0-5 years old and their caregivers, and help facilitate curriculum-linked, climate-themed field trip opportunities for children in grades 1-3. This is an in-person role, with the main activities taking place at Ecosource’s Community Climate Hub in Mississauga 4-5 times a week.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, preparations, facilitation, and evaluation of a weekly harvest & cooking program for older adults.
- Facilitate climate-themed workshops and events for community members of all ages, including field trips for children in grades 1-3 and a weekly nature exploration program for children 0 to 5 years old & their caregivers.
- Collaborate with team members and partners to support the development of creative environmental education programming, including age-appropriate environmental learning, harvesting/planting activities, cooking sessions, and games.
- Maintain Ecosource's teaching kitchen, outdoor classroom, and community garden to ensure that they are safe and accessible learning spaces for residents of all ages.
- Work as part of a team to create a safe and inclusive environment for community members of all backgrounds and varying needs using an anti-racism and anti-oppression lens.
- Support communications with program participants, volunteers, and community partners.
- Assist with the administration of program tracking & evaluation tools and provide recommendations for ongoing improvements.
- Assist with other organizational environmental education related events, workshops, and programming as required.
Qualifications
- Experience with facilitating education workshops for community members of all ages, including older adults and children.
- Energetic, flexible, and creative person with an ability to connect with others by delivering dynamic, inclusive, and engaging activities.
- A passion for food skills development and climate action education.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve shared goals.
- Experience with cooking and/or food growing an asset.
- Standard First Aid and CPR C Certificate and/or Food Handler Certificate an asset.
Application Information This is a 14-week contract position at a rate of $26.00 per hour at 35 hours/week from mid September to December 2025. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required with advanced notice. Access to personal days and 6% vacation pay are included in the position. Due to the nature of this role, this position will be fully in-person at Ecosource’s Community Climate Hub in Mississauga.
A Police Vulnerable Sector Check will be required upon hiring.
