About The Role
Title: Accessibility Advisor
Location: Toronto, ON | London, ON
Salary: N08 | $106,400 - $133,000
Branch: Accessibility Enablement
Reporting to the Director, Accessibility Enablement, the Accessibility Manager/Advisor will lead the administration and compliance of accessibility standards at an enterprise level. You will champion accessibility, equity, and inclusion as a technical expert throughout the WSIB’s programs, services, and policies, ensuring compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC).
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the WSIB’s annual AODA compliance program, ensuring enterprise-wide adherence to legal and statutory accessibility requirements. Update and implement the multi-year accessibility plan, policies, and status reports in line with legislative changes. Provide expert guidance, risk assessment, and remediation planning for accessibility-related issues. Drive cultural change by developing and facilitating accessibility training programs and fostering a supportive, inclusive environment. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to investigate AODA breaches, develop governance requirements, and manage compliance for new technologies, vendors, and services. Lead accessibility assessments for procurements, ITC projects, and corporate programs. Maintain strong relationships across all organizational levels and with public sector partners to share best practices and enhance AODA compliance. Represent the Director and Accessibility Enablementat leadership tables, leading advisory committees, awareness events, and research initiatives. Developing, implementing and maintaining tools and methodologies to manage a broad range of accessibility accommodation requests from employers, clients, health care providers and the public Provide technical requirements to project teams and lead the testing on digital services solutions on different platforms with assistive devices to ensure accessibility standards are met from the compliance lens. (JAWS, NVDA, Dragon Speak) Interpret and advise on digital services testing results and provide prioritization expertise when areas of non-compliance are identified.
What You Bring
University degree in Social Sciences, Policy, Disability Management, Human Rights, Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 5+ years of experience in the application and administration of AODA, preferably in the public sector. Advanced knowledge of AODA, IASR, WCAG, and related legislation. Proven ability to lead accessibility programs, deliver training, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Experience in project management, accessibility testing (JAWS, NVDA, Dragon Speak, etc.), and developing accessibility solutions (physical, digital, communication). Certifications such as CDMP, CPACC, CPWA, WAS, ADS, or CPABE are assets.
