POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Generalist serves as a consultant to management and employees on human resources-related issues. The successful HR Generalist will act as a performance champion and change agent building partnerships across operations to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining a high level of acumen about our markets, talent pools, organizational values, culture and strategy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Strategic Human Resources Partnership Partner with leaders and managers to provide proactive HR guidance and support. Align HR initiatives with business objectives and workforce needs. Provide recommendations on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development. Support change management initiatives related to organizational growth, restructuring, and operational changes. Analyze workforce trends and metrics to support strategic decision-making. Employee Relations & Performance Management Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations matters. Conduct workplace investigations and support conflict resolution processes. Assist managers with performance management, disciplinary actions, corrective action plans, and employee development plans. Ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Support the Talent Acquisition Specialist with candidate sourcing, interviews, reference and background checks, offers, and onboarding. Support workforce planning efforts to meet operational demands. Onboarding & Employee Integration Participate in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's onboarding program and processes. Facilitate new employee orientation programs for corporate office personnel. Collaborate with operations, safety, payroll, and IT departments to ensure a seamless onboarding experience. Monitor onboarding effectiveness through feedback, retention metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure office employees receive the necessary training, equipment, system access, and support to become productive team members. Maintain personnel records and documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Training & Development Identify organizational training needs and coordinate development initiatives. Support leadership development and succession planning programs. Maintain training records and monitor compliance training requirements. Coordinate employee learning opportunities and professional development programs. Compensation, Benefits & HR Programs Support compensation reviews, market benchmarking, and salary administration. Assist the Benefit Administrator with benefits-related inquiries and program administration. Develop and maintain cross-training initiatives for benefits administration to ensure adequate departmental coverage, business continuity, and uninterrupted employee support during absences or peak workload periods. Support employee recognition and engagement initiatives. Compliance & Policy Administration Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights legislation, and applicable federal regulations. Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures. Maintain employee files and HR documentation in accordance with legal requirements. Support audits and compliance reviews as required. Stay current on legislative changes impacting employment practices. Provide quarterly analytics reports for the corporate head office Health, Safety & Operational Support Collaborate with Health and Safety teams to support company safety initiatives. Support return-to-work and accommodation processes where applicable. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Installation, calibration, troubleshooting and testing instrumentation equipment

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive Human Resources experience. CPHR designation (or working toward designation) preferred. Experience supporting construction, energy, oil and gas, industrial services, or related industries preferred. Experience supporting both office and field-based employees. Demonstrated experience managing employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management programs.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for promoting and living out MasTec Purnell Canada’s 6 Core Values Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation. Knowledge of workforce management within construction and project-based environments. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Ability to build credibility and strong working relationships at all levels of the organization. Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and applicant tracking systems. Prior experience with Vista by Viewpoint is strongly preferred. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Calgary based, Combination of in office and occasional field-based support. Occasional travel to project sites and regional offices throughout Alberta as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment supporting operational and project requirements.
