About the role

Childcare Supervisor

**Please note that this position is a contract from August 1st 2026 to March 1st 2027.**

Job Description

The Supervisor provides a professional, positive, and supportive work and learning environment for children, families, and staff. The Supervisor works collaboratively with the Director, RECE and non-RECE staff, Pathways Resource Teachers, Support Facilitators, Board of Directors, parents, volunteers, Lambton College students, and call-in staff.

The Supervisor reports to the Director and works in conjunction with the Board of Directors to ensure the centre operates in compliance with Ministry of Education regulations, licensing requirements, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Oversight

  • Supervise and support all front-line staff, including RECE and non-RECE employees.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months.
  • Ensure staff follow centre policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.

Program & Classroom Oversight

  • Ensure programming aligns with the centre?s Program Statement, Emergent Curriculum, and How Does Learning Happen framework.
  • Support staff in planning engaging activities and documenting children?s learning.
  • Ensure classrooms are organized, safe, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Communicate program updates and children?s learning with families through platforms such as Seesaw.

Administration & Operations

  • Oversee required Ministry of Education documentation, including licence renewal materials.
  • Maintain staff schedules and ensure all staff and children?s files are complete and up to date.
  • Monitor attendance records and required documentation.
  • Prepare monthly attendance and billing summaries and submit payroll information to accounting.
  • Communicate important updates or closures to staff and families.

Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and all licensing requirements.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, and visitors.
  • Conduct and document safety procedures including fire drills and playground safety checks.
  • Ensure accident reports and serious occurrences are properly documented and reported.

Child Care & Program Support

  • Ensure staff actively supervise children and maintain required staff-to-child ratios.
  • Support the needs of all children, including those with Individual Plans or special needs.
  • Ensure policies related to nutrition, allergies, and healthy eating are followed.
  • Oversee completion of Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) for children entering and exiting the program.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • Minimum 5 years experience as an RECE
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification
  • Food Handler?s Certificate (if applicable)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Wage: $28/hour
  • Wage Enhancement:
  • $2.00/hour Lambton County Local Wage Enhancement Grant
  • Paid holidays, emergency/personal days, and bereavement leave, along with vacation pay in accordance with employment standards.
  • Professional development support, including a paid annual PD day and reimbursement for one certification renewal (e.g., First Aid or RECE).
  • Additional workplace benefits, including paid staff meetings, provided lunches, and paid days during unexpected centre closures (e.g., inclement weather).

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
