Position Overview
We are seeking an engaged and analytical professional to play a key role within our Human Resources and Occupational Health team.
As the Attendance and Occupational Health, Safety & Wellness Coordinator, you will directly contribute to fostering a healthy, safe, and supportive work environment for all employees.
Reporting to the Director Labour Relations and Health & Safety, you will act as a trusted partner to managers and a key contributor in:

enhancing employee attendance and overall well-being

promoting workplace safety and injury prevention

supporting proactive absence management and return-to-work practices

maintaining a compliant and safety-focused organizational culture
Key responsibilities
Attendance and Disability Management
Analyze absenteeism trends and support managers in attendance management
Coordinate short-term disability cases (WSIB, insurers, third-party providers)
Support return-to-work planning and workplace accommodations
Contribute to proactive initiatives to improve employee attendance
Occupational Health & Safety
Coordinate the follow-up of workplace incidents and injuries
Support investigations and regulatory requirements (WSIB, OHSA)
Assist in maintaining organizational compliance, including Accreditation Canada standards
Contribute to prevention initiatives (workplace violence, musculoskeletal injuries, etc.)
Training and Prevention
Coordinate mandatory health and safety training programs
Develop awareness materials and training content
Support employee wellness initiatives and safety culture development
Reporting and Continuous Improvement
Produce reports and analyze key performance indicators
Identify trends and recommend actionable solutions
Contribute to continuous improvement of programs and processes
Collaboration
Work closely with managers, union representatives, and external partners
Participate in committees (JHSC, attendance, wellness)
Support organizational initiatives related to psychological health, safety, and employee well-being

What we are looking for
Education
-
College diploma or university degree in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, Disability Management, Nursing, or a related field.

Relevant certification in occupational health and safety, disability management, or human resources is considered an asset.
Relevant Experience
-
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety, attendance management, disability management, or a related field, preferably within a unionized healthcare environment.
Additional Skills
- Strong communication skills in both English and French
- Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and WSIB processes
- Understanding of attendance management principles and workplace accommodations
- Familiarity with unionized environments and human rights obligations
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and handle confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
