Description

As the Accounting Assistant, you will work alongside the Accounting Manager to support the Accounting department with accounts payable processing, HR maintenance and other accounting functions. You will also assist the Office team with other office tasks as needed.

Pay range for this role ($19.50 - $23.50/hour) is tied to a candidate's specific qualifications and experience. Education, training and work experience in accounting or bookkeeping is an asset.

Season: The Kingston 1000 Islands Cruises operating season begins in April and ends in October. This is a part-time seasonal contract position with an end date of December 15 and possibility of re-hire in winter/spring 2027.

Qualifications

Positive attitude and professional approach. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Competency with MS Office (with a focus on excel). Completed or currently pursuing a post-secondary program. Some previous experience working in an administrative/office setting. Experience with accounting and/or payroll software considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Receive, review and process invoices and statements, regularly monitoring vendor activity. Filing and data entry into accounting and HRM software. Assist in processing employees and maintaining personnel files (including invitation process, processing employment packages, issuing security access, coordinating other HR requirements). Assist in reviewing and processing of employee time charges. Assist in processing of bi-weekly payroll. Daily float preparation: count incoming floats, reconcile with records, rebuild new floats. Take meeting minutes. Maintain Incident Report records. Regular reporting to determine outstanding balances and distribute reports to sales team. Assist with additional office tasks as needed.

Compensation

In the summer season the Trolley makes nine stops at our most popular visitor destinations, including Fort Henry, the Penitentiary Museum, and Queen's University; you can hop off at any stop, stay for as long as you like, and then hop back on and continue your tour.
