Hours:37.5 hours per week. Shifts are Monday to Friday (9:00am to 5:00pm).

Rate of Pay: $29.00 - $34.57(Starting salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions)

How You Will Make an Impact

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant enhances the dignity and quality of life of our clients, visitors, and staff through the delivery of efficient and accurate Human Resources administrative services. The Human Resources Assistant provides essential support to the Human Resources department through the coordination of processes, management of HR documentation, maintenance of employee records, and handling of routine inquiries in a professional and timely manner.

The successful candidate will support Good Shepherd's Mission, Vision, and Values while contributing to a respectful, welcoming, and service-focused work environment.

  • Manage HR documentation and maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems while ensuring accuracy and compliance with record retention requirements
  • Process HR transactions within HRIS systems, including new hires, terminations, employee status changes, and personal information updates
  • Coordinate meeting schedules, book rooms, prepare materials, and distribute agendas and minutes as required
  • Respond to routine HR inquiries from employees and managers while escalating complex matters to appropriate HR staff
  • Prepare and distribute HR documentation including offer letters, employment verification letters, and other standard correspondence
  • Coordinate new hire orientation logistics, including scheduling, preparing orientation packages, and ensuring completion of required documentation
  • Create employee ID badges and maintain accurate records of badge issuance
  • Support recruitment activities and hiring processes as needed
  • Maintain HR supplies inventory and place orders as required
  • Process and track employee leaves of absence and maintain appropriate documentation and system updates
  • Assist with benefits administration including enrollment forms, employee changes, and routine benefits inquiries
  • Support employee recognition initiatives, staff events, and other HR programs as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion
  • Work collaboratively within the HR team and demonstrate Good Shepherd values in daily work practices
  • Observe all Good Shepherd health and safety rules and comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and organizational procedures

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • CHRP designation or currently working toward designation considered an asset
  • Minimum 1–2 years of administrative experience, preferably within Human Resources or an office environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP) and hiring software (iSolve) considered an asset
  • Ability to prioritize workload and effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional, respectful, and customer-service-focused approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
