About the role

Position: HR Operations Coordinator Location: Montreal, Canada - in the office 3 days per week Duration: 6 month contract to hire Rate: 95 - 123 CAD Interview: 2 round interviews

The successful candidate will manage HR administration, employee records, benefits and pension support, payroll coordination, leave management, and employee lifecycle processes while ensuring compliance with Canadian employment legislation, collective agreement requirements, and company policies. The candidate will work with the outgoing incumbent for a brief period and be responsible for filling the position and overlap with a new hire to seamlessly transition the work.

Qualifications Required 3–7 years of Human Resources, with a minimum of 2 years in Payroll and Benefits. Knowledge of Canadian employment standards and HR practices. Experience administering employee benefits and leave programs. Strong administrative and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office applications. ADP payroll experience Ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Professional fluency in English and French (spoken and written). Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, vendors, and corporate teams in both languages.

Preferred Experience with Workday. Experience supporting a unionized workforce. Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial workforce. Experience with defined benefit pension plan administration. Experience coordinating payroll with shared services or cross-border teams. Knowledge of Quebec labor and employment practices. CHRP designation or progress toward certification. HR Operations & Employee Support Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems. Prepare employment letters, HR documentation, and employee communications. Support employee engagement, policy administration, and compliance initiatives. Payroll Administration Coordinate payroll inputs and employee data changes with U.S.-based payroll and HR teams. Validate payroll information, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, overtime, leave status changes, and deductions. Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and issue resolution. Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial payroll regulations. Benefits & Pension Administration Administer employee health, dental, disability, life insurance, and wellness benefit programs. Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations with vendors. Support administration of the defined benefit pension plan, including employee communications and coordination with pension providers. Assist employees with benefit and pension-related questions. Leave & Disability Management Coordinate leaves of absence, including medical, parental, disability, and other statutory leaves. Maintain leave records and monitor return-to-work processes. Partner with managers, employees, payroll, and benefit providers to ensure accurate administration of leave programs. Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with applicable employment standards, labor regulations, privacy requirements, and company policies. Prepare HR reports and workforce metrics. Support audits, government reporting, and internal compliance reviews.
