Human Resources Specialist
About the role
SUMMIT, An Earth Services Company is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Corporate Services Division as a Human Resources Specialist based out of our Calgary, AB office. (Competition #26-07-0758). This position reports to the Human Resources Manager and is part of a team that provides support to multiple lines of business within Summit, An Earth Services Company. The successful candidate will be employed as a full-time temporary employee on a 20-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
Job Duties
Provide support to the Human Resources Manager with full cycle recruitment, including but not limited to, creating job postings, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, phone screening candidates, scheduling and conducting interviews, and completing reference checks Work with Managers and Strategic Partnerships to identify strategic methods of recruiting talent Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships during selection process Onboard new employees and support the delivery of a positive onboarding experience Assist the HR Manager in preparing offer letters, employment contracts, and other documents Respond to employee and department enquiries as they relate to Human Resources, including interpretation of company policies, procedures, and HR programs Maintain and update various database and employee records Provide backup support for Payroll and Benefits Coordinate employee leaves, disability management, and benefit-related administration Support performance management, employee relations, and policy administration Assist with HR reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives Assist the HR Manager on various administrative duties and special projects as needed
You will be supported by the entire Summit organization which consists of a dynamic team of Professional Engineers, Geologists, Biologists, Chemists and Agrologists, technical administrators, business development, human resource and health and safety professionals, and an in-house IT department.
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma from a recognized institution related to Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and relevant Human Resources experience Minimum 5 years’ experience of progressive Human Resources experience, including full-cycle recruitment Minimum 2 years of payroll experience or oversight Experience with development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and safe work practices Experience with document control and development is an asset Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate keen attention to detail as well as strong time management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize and multitask to consistently meet deadlines Proven computer skills/proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc. Previous HRIS experience required, experience with HRIS implementation, system configuration, or process improvements is considered an asset Exhibits a positive, courteous, respectful and helpful attitude to clientele, co-workers, and management Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
