Bayview Glen is pleased to offer an exciting and rare leadership opportunity to help shape innovative teaching, learning, and AI integration across our Middle School (Grades 6 to 8).
We are seeking a DIRECTOR OF TEACHING AND LEARNING for our Prep School (Grades 6 to 8), commencing in August 2026. Reporting to the Head of the Prep School, this leadership role will work collaboratively with the Directors of Teaching and Learning across the School to support alignment, innovation, and excellence in teaching and learning.

What You’ll Be Doing: · Providing excellence in AI integration and curriculum development and delivery to advance the educational mission, vision and strategic plan of Bayview Glen; · Providing a robust, innovative, experiential, and inquiry-based approach in all areas of learning including the development and delivery of instructional programs, assessments, professional development and the use of technology at all grade levels within the Prep School; · Researching, identifying and recommending new and emerging best practices in teaching and learning environments; · Providing a visionary perspective on teaching and learning with the ability to translate ideas, research and innovation into actionable recommendations, programmes and plans; · Supporting Department Heads in their leadership development and professional growth plans, including coaching, goal-setting and the implementation of effective instructional leadership practices; · Providing leadership and support to faculty through collaborative planning, professional development, coaching and regular communication.
What You’ll Need: · Bachelor of Education or equivalent; a Master’s degree in Education would be an asset; · Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers; · A minimum of 5 years of direct teaching experience at the Junior/Intermediate level including at least 3 years’ experience in a leadership capacity; · Participant or graduate of the CAIS Leadership Institute along with previous curriculum development leadership experience at a CAIS School would be considered an asset; · Strong knowledge of current and emerging pedagogical methodologies, best practices, technology-enhanced teaching models and tools, and principles of student learning; · Experience spearheading the strategic integration of AI innovation with rigorous ethical standards to elevate student success and faculty instructional capabilities. · Leadership skills including active listening, coaching, facilitation, evidence-based decision making and building effective working relationships across all stakeholder groups including teachers, students and parents; · Experience assessing individual teacher performance, identifying professional growth and mentoring needs, and supporting constructive instructional improvement; · Proven capacity to anticipate, identify, and address teacher concerns effectively; · Ability to assess teaching outcomes, determine patterns and emerging issues, and developing or recommending improved teaching tools and strategies; · Experience researching and evaluating external professional learning opportunities and providers to support curriculum development and ongoing faculty growth; · Strong communication and presentation skills · Demonstrated commitment to engaging faculty in continuous professional learning and supporting the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies and tools.

Compensation follows the School’s faculty salary grid and is based on education, additional qualifications, and years of direct teaching experience. The salary range will be based on our grid from $82,579 (for candidates with 5 years of teaching experience) to $130,158 (for those with 10 plus years of teaching experience) with a responsibility stipend for this leadership role.
