Reporting to the Director, Employee Communications, the Senior Manager, Employee Communications is responsible for leading the strategy, planning and execution of business unit communications that connect employees to IG Wealth Management’s strategy, priorities and culture. The Senior Manager will parter closely with the Director on the IG and IGM CEO communications plan and will lead the execution of elements of that plan. This role acts as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, shaping high-impact communications programs and ensuring consistent, integrated messaging across executive communications, employee forums and corporate channels. The Senior Manager is accountable for elevating communication effectiveness through strong editorial leadership, data-driven insights, and continuous optimization of channels, programs and processes. The Senior Manager is based in Winnipeg or Toronto in a hybrid workplace environment - with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Key Accountabilities: Strategic communications leadership and execution Lead the development and execution of integrated communications strategy for IG business, aligning to enterprise priorities and business strategy Ensure alignment and consistency across corporate stories, executive communications, leadership and employee forums Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing strategic counsel on executive messaging, employee engagement and change communications Lead the development of compelling narratives that connect employees to strategy, culture and business outcomes Own end-to-end program design, including narrative development, channel strategy, audience engagement approach and success measures Develop and manage required workback plans, briefs, editorial standards and governance (e.g., RACI, critical paths) Leverage AI tools to augment productivity and quality Executive and CEO communications Parter with Director and VP/SVP on overall communications strategy for CEO of IG and IGM Lead and execute elements of the CEO strategy (e.g., CEO video, Strategic Leadership Forum, enterprise messages, leader toolkits) Lead the strategy and execution other senior leadership communications programs (e.g., working with CEO Direct reports on leadership messages, ongoing stories, etc) Provide guidance and direction on executive messaging to ensure clarity, authenticity and alignment with enterprise priorities Oversee key content deliverables (e.g., presentations, scripts, articles) with a focus on audience impact and clarity Writing and Editing Write, edit employee/leader communications including news articles, intranet content, executive presentations, and video scripts to ensure all communications are on brand, on message and clear, engaging and actionable – with a high level of quality control Partner with the Digital team to submit/publish editorial content on our internal digital channels (including intranets, target emails, weekly bulletins and digital signage), update editorial calendar and contribute to ongoing modernization and optimization of digital corporate channels Enterprise collaboration and integration Partner with teams across IGM, including IG Strategy, Advisor Experience, Marketing, Community and Events, to ensure integrated and coordinated communications plans, content and execution Act as a connector across IG and IGM to align messaging and optimize communications impact Leadership with Employee Comms team Partner across Employee Communications team to ensure excellence across all communications priorities. Where applicable, mentor or provide informal leadership to team members and partners to strengthen communications capability Where applicable, lead special projects across team, e.g. develop or improve processes or tools to enhance effectiveness and efficiency Measurement, insights and optimization Use data effectiveness and engagement data to evaluate communications programs and channels Translate insights into actionable recommendations to continuously improve communications strategies and outcomes Drive adoption of best practices, tools and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Education, Experience and Behavioural Competencies: Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Communications, English and/or Public Relations required; additional designation is an asset 10+ years of experience in employee or corporate communications within a large organization or agency, with proven expertise in supporting senior executives and adapting messaging to reflect unique voices and for various audiences Strong background in strategic communication planning, execution and measurement Superior writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to style, tone and detail Exceptional project management skills, capable of balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards Proactive, innovative and resilient with the ability to respond to challenges with a positive and solution-focused mindset Open to continuous learning and improvement, with an eagerness to adopt and implement new communication best practices Solid understanding of how to modernize and effectively leverage digital communications to enhance engagement and drive impactful communication Experience with AI to optimize communications approach is an asset Must be a team player with ability to work both independently and collaboratively with demonstrated ability to lead others, formally or informally Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in balancing complex and sometimes competing needs and priorities Work hours may vary; some evening and weekend work may be required; incumbent should be comfortable self-managing their time and maintaining a healthy work-life balance If selected for an interview, candidate will be asked to provide one strategic communications plan, including workback schedule, plus three writing samples. A writing test may also be required. The expected annual base salary range for this role is $87,000 - $112,500, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short-term incentive, health and well-being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development. As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.
