We are seeking an Employment Consultant / Job Developer who cares about people and enjoys assisting clients with returning to the workforce to achieve stable employment. Candidates must be self-directed and very comfortable networking to uncover employment opportunities and communicate with various clients, employers, and internal team members. You will be responsible for providing clients with job search techniques and resources, developing relationships with employers to identify suitable employment opportunities for clients, and coordinating interviews for prospective candidates. Job Information Full-time positions available in Mississauga/York/GTA Competitive Salary + Group Benefits On the job training provided Professional Development opportunities Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm Wage Range - $50,000-$55,000
QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years of experience as an Employment Consultant/ Facilitator with experience conducting Program Intake and Job Search Workshops is an asset BA Degree or College Diploma in employment counselling, career development or in related field such as business, psychology, communications, human resources or social services Superior oral and written communication skills, administrative, organization and time management skills Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes Demonstrates a sense of urgency and motivation when completing tasks to ensure program targets are achieved Experience composing reports and computer literacy in MS Office, Internet and Outlook in the Windows environment Knowledge and understanding of Canadian labour market conditions, practices, trends, job search strategies and techniques Strong interpersonal, employment coaching, facilitation, interviewing and presentation skills Proven experience working with unemployed, underemployed, vulnerable individuals who face barriers to entering the labour market Broad knowledge of community-based services and supports Access to a vehicle as travel required throughout the GTA Employment conditional on obtaining a Vulnerable Sector Check
DUTIES: Employment Services Meet with clients to aid them with their job search, provide guidance, support, recommendations and feedback Conduct intake assessments and create appropriate employment plans with recommendation Follow up with program sponsors and provide updates regarding client’s progress Document and maintain updated case notes Complete associated job search and progress reports Address general questions regarding programming received from potential or existing referrals and referral parties Assist with the completion of client eligibility determination and identify verification Participate in general outreach efforts both on site as well as at locations of community partners and employers to generate referrals and inform of services available Facilitation Facilitate employment-based programming; conduct screenings to determine suitability and eligibility Deliver job search techniques, inclusive of resume development, job search strategies, labour market information, networking, interviewing and job retention, as well as life skill workshops Create resumes and cover letters targeted to client objectives and customized for employers Prepare clients for interviews and conduct mock interviews Provided ongoing mentoring and coaching to clients throughout the job search process, fostering confidence and improving employment outcomes Job Development, Placement and Incentives Create strategic plans for finding and securing employment / placement opportunities Network and develop relationships with employers, including site visits, industry events, and hosting information sessions Educate employers on organizations’ services/programs and negotiate placement contracts and accommodations Apply to relevant job postings on behalf of clients, tailoring applications to match job criteria and increase the likelihood of interview selection Conduct site visits for employer compliance and to assess client’s performance and determine needs for accommodation or training adjustments Create employment training plans, secure employer signatures, obtain paystubs Apply to job postings on behalf of clients online and by other means Follow up with employers and track progress of clients in placements to achieve employment retention Maintain ongoing communication and continuously foster employer relationships Coordinate and arrange and job fairs, networking events, and employer information sessions
