About the role
Our client, a Private Equity firm, is seeking a Director - Compensation to lead its North American (USA & Canada) compensation strategy and programs. Reporting to senior leadership, this role is responsible for executive and broad-based compensation, equity and incentive plans, Board Compensation Committee support, and leading the Compensation and Benefits/Retirement team. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
Key Responsibilities Lead North American compensation strategy and programs. Design and oversee executive and C-suite compensation, including STI and LTI plans. Lead equity compensation programs, including RSUs, PSUs, stock options, and equity grants. Prepare and support Board Compensation Committee materials and meetings. Oversee annual merit, bonus, and broad-based compensation programs. Ensure compensation programs align with business objectives, market practices, and governance requirements. Partner with senior leadership and key stakeholders on compensation strategy. Lead and mentor the Compensation and Benefits/Retirement team while remaining hands-on in execution.
Required Qualifications 5-8 years' experience as Director – Compensation (MUST) Experience working with both NASDAQ and TSX companies (MUST) Experience working in the USA and Canada (MUST) Experience designing executive/C-suite compensation packages (MUST) Experience leading compensation board committees (MUST) Designing equity, long-term incentive (LTI), RSU, and stock option plans (MUST) Prior experience among Big 5 compensation consulting firms. PhD in Human Resources or MSc or equivalent with demonstrated expertise in executive compensation.
Compensation: $200,000–$210,000 base salary, 30% annual bonus; 30% LTI
