Role at a Glance

The Manager, Strategic Talent Acquisition is a critical partner to the business, ensuring successful long-term workforce plans are delivered on time and on target. This role is responsible for effectively collaborating with business leaders to design and develop talent attraction strategies and lead the HR Talent Coordinators in providing end-to-end recruitment support. As a strategic partner, you also support the Director, HR with strategic input on retention strategies, in alignment with our culture of inclusion, transparency and high performance.

What You'll Do

Leadership and Change Influence

  • Align recruitment strategies with overall organizational objectives, partnering with the Director, HR and the Business Leaders in utilizing the strategic workforce plans to ensure we meet critical and future talent requirements.
  • Partner with the Business and the Manager, HR Operations to ensure there is practical understanding of talent pipelines for critical roles and for long term growth plans; ensure there is understanding of retention strategies and engagement is successful in best practice thinking and processes are followed for recruitment and onboarding processes.
  • Accountable to lead and develop the HR talent team, through the HR life cycle, ensuring the team is high performing to successfully deliver to current and future growth priorities

Compliance, Policies, Processes and Systems excellence

  • Partner with Manager, HR Operations to ensure hiring policies are aligned with recruitment practice and process and continuous improvement inputs are provided to align with organizational growth.
  • Oversee and effectively lead the full-cycle (end-to-end) recruitment process for all hires, including oversight and management of co-op program portfolio.
  • Continuously improve recruiting processes, tools and systems, including ensuring internal controls are managed to risk scenarios that ensure the right business decisions.
  • Partner with the HRBP's and other HR team members and the Business Leaders to improve the candidate experience in the HR life cycle, including use of tools, technologies and process improvements.
  • Partner with Manager, HR Operations to monitor and analyze key recruitment and on-boarding metrics to ensure best practices.
  • Work collaboratively with the marketing team to ensure brand consistency through platforms, and professional networks.

Financial delivery:

  • Ensure financial targets are met for Recruitment budget, including ensuring compensation/ total rewards decisions are in alignment with the approved Workforce plans/ changes are approved by Finance.
  • Ensure changes to projects / initiatives that improve the employee experience, including retention initiatives that you partner on are on time/ on budget.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information on all other changes required on policies and processes for inclusion in annual budget forecasts, including ensuring risk reviews are completed and included in financial information.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Organizational Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including team leadership preferably in architectural/engineering/construction
  • Minimum 5 years people leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success with Sr. leadership/ Executive recruitment
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of legislative requirements for hiring in Canadian provinces
  • Demonstrated experience leading attraction programs and recruiting across multiple locations or regions

Skills Required

  • Experience leading attraction programs and recruiting across multiple locations or regions
  • Proven ability to influence all levels of leaders, and manage complex stakeholder environments
  • Very strong working knowledge working with Applicant Tracking systems and HR databases
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data, metrics and technology in recruiting
  • Very strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance risk, to make recommendations and decisions with changes required to deliver optimized outcomes
  • Financial budget experience for recruitment and talent attraction strategies
  • Excellent ability to manage with multiple priorities
  • Ability to learn from Director, HR and develop own skills to support back up of Director, HR on Attraction and Retention issues
  • Demonstrated experience creating and presenting, utilizing Microsoft tools
