Why Join HIDI? At HIDI, The HR Generalist is a hands-on member of the Human Resources team who supports the day-to-day delivery of HR services across The HIDI Group. The role has a primary focus on full-cycle recruitment and candidate experience, while also coordinating employee onboarding, HR administration, records, systems, benefits support, performance processes and other employee lifecycle activities. Working closely with the HR Manager and hiring leaders, the HR Generalist helps ensure recruitment and HR operations are responsive, organized, consistent and aligned with HIDI’s policies and business needs.
The Opportunity Talent Acquisition and Recruitment Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions across HIDI’s offices and disciplines. Partner with hiring managers to clarify role requirements, candidate profiles, recruitment priorities, interview processes and hiring timelines. Draft and update job descriptions and postings; advertise roles through appropriate job boards, professional networks, educational institutions and other sourcing channels. Proactively source candidates using LinkedIn, referrals, talent pipelines, industry contacts and targeted outreach. Review applications, conduct screening interviews, assess candidate alignment and present qualified shortlists with clear recommendations to hiring managers. Coordinate interviews, prepare interview materials, support structured candidate evaluation and maintain timely communication with candidates and interview teams. Conduct reference checks, prepare offer documentation and support offer discussions in consultation with the HR Manager. Deliver a professional, responsive and inclusive candidate experience from first contact through onboarding. Maintain accurate recruitment records, applicant tracking information and recruitment metrics, including vacancy status, source effectiveness, time to fill and offer outcomes. Coordinate relationships with external recruitment agencies when approved and help build ongoing talent pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill roles. HR Operations and Employee Lifecycle Administration Coordinate new-hire documentation, system set-up, onboarding schedules and orientation in partnership with managers, IT, Payroll and Office Services. Maintain confidential and up-to-date employee records in BambooHR and personnel files in accordance with privacy, retention and internal requirements. Respond to routine employee and manager questions regarding HR programs, policies, procedures, benefits, vacation, leaves and HR systems; escalate complex, sensitive or higher-risk matters to the HR Manager. Support benefits and group retirement plan administration, including enrolments, changes, terminations, employee inquiries and coordination with Payroll and external providers. Coordinate probationary and annual performance review cycles, monitor completion, follow up with managers and employees and maintain accurate records. Coordinate offboarding activities, including documentation, internal notifications, system updates, exit interviews and return-of-property requirements. Programs, Compliance and Continuous Improvement Support employee engagement, mentorship, learning and culture initiatives through scheduling, communications, registration, tracking and event coordination. Assist with health and safety administration, training records, required postings, committee documentation and follow-up activities. Maintain current working knowledge of applicable employment standards and HR practices in Ontario and Alberta, escalating legislative or compliance matters to the HR Manager. Provide administrative and project support for broader HR priorities and organizational initiatives as required.
What You Bring 2+ years of experience as an HR Generalist Post-secondary education in human resources management or a related field Strong interpersonal skills with diplomacy to handle sensitive or emotional situations. Ability to work independently and must be able to work under pressure of multiple demands Ability to write clearly, accurately and concisely Good judgment and Professional demeanour Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information Knowledge of MS Office A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality work
