People & Culture Advisor Location: Seabrook, NS (with travel within Nova Scotia) Reports To: Manager, People & Culture Status: Full-Time, Permanent | In-Office
Join Our Team Scotia Harvest is seeking a People & Culture Advisor to serve as the on-site HR presence at our Seabrook facility. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working closely with employees and leaders, building relationships, solving problems, and helping create a positive workplace culture in a fast-paced operational environment. As a key member of the People & Culture team, you'll provide hands-on support to employees and managers, coach leaders through people-related challenges, support recruitment and onboarding activities, and help ensure HR processes are carried out consistently and effectively. You'll work closely with operations leaders while partnering with the broader People & Culture team across the Mersey Group.
What You'll Do Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers on day-to-day HR matters. Provide guidance on employee relations, attendance, performance management, and workplace concerns. Coach and support supervisors through difficult conversations and people-related decisions. Maintain accurate HR documentation and employee records. Support recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration. Maintain employee information within BambooHR and assist with HR reporting. Help ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and training requirements. Partner with leaders across the business to support a respectful, positive, and productive workplace culture.
What We're Looking For Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum two years of HR experience, or a combination of related education and experience. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills. Ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices. Experience in a manufacturing, processing, or operational environment is considered an asset. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Working Environment This role is primarily based at our Seabrook facility and requires regular interaction with employees in office, production, and operational settings. Travel (approximately 20%) to other Nova Scotia locations is required. Exposure to seafood processing environments, varying temperatures, noise, and PPE requirements should be expected.
