As our HR Generalist, reporting to the Director of Human Resources, you will support managers and employees across the organization while leading key HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll support, HR communications, and file maintenance.
We are looking for a collaborative, organized HR professional who enjoys building relationships, handling confidential information with care, and using HR data to support thoughtful decisions. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, especially Payworks, along with strong Excel skills, would be an asset. Most of all, you are approachable, innovative, and excited to contribute to a vibrant Downtown Winnipeg.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · Lead recruitment, onboarding, and employee lifecycle activities, including employment documentation and record management. · Support managers and employees with employee relations matters, HR policies, employment legislation, and workplace safety requirements. · Administer employee benefits, disability management, WCB claims, accommodations, and return-to-work planning. · Coordinate and communicate bi-weekly payroll instructions and employee changes, ensuring accurate payroll processing and documentation. Provide backup support to the Payroll and maintain HRIS and payroll records; Payworks experience is a strong asset · Coordinate training, professional development, employee engagement, wellness, recognition, and workplace culture initiatives. · Maintain HR data and leverage Excel, analytics, and HR metrics to support reporting, workforce planning, and organizational decision-making. · Support HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, and organizational committees, including Health & Safety and DEI initiatives
OUR REQUIREMENTS: · Related post-secondary education and a minimum of 2 years of experience in a Human Resources generalist, advisor, coordinator, or similar HR role; CPHR designation or progress toward completion is considered an asset · Strong knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workplace Safety and Health, and Workers Compensation legislation, with the ability to apply legislative requirements in the workplace. · Knowledge of payroll administration, employee benefits, disability management, and HR best practices. · Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training and development, and employee engagement initiatives · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and the development of HR metrics and dashboards · Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint. Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably Payworks, is considered an asset · Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines · Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make recommendations · Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization. · Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity
