The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice (EDIJ) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the advancement of the organization's commitment to creating an equitable, inclusive, culturally safe, and anti-oppressive workplace and service environment. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the EDIJ Coordinator works collaboratively with leadership, staff, clients, community partners, and equity-deserving communities to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the organization's EDIJ strategy and initiatives. The incumbent champions organizational change by embedding equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, reconciliation, and accessibility principles into organizational policies, practices, programs, and decision-making processes. This role supports the organization's strategic priorities while fostering an environment where all employees, clients and visitors feel valued, respected, and empowered.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the incumbent will be responsible for the following functions: Coordinate the implementation and ongoing evaluation of the organization's EDIJ Strategy and annual work plan. Develop measurable goals, performance indicators, and reporting mechanisms to monitor organizational progress. Research emerging EDIJ best practices, legislation, and trends to inform organizational priorities. Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership, committees, and the Board of Directors Review and revise organizational policies, procedures, and practices using an equity, anti-racism, accessibility, and trauma-informed lens. In conjunction with the Senior leadership team, the EDIJ Coordinator will help to design, coordinate, and facilitate EDIJ learning opportunities for staff, leaders, Board members, volunteers, and students. Coordinate annual organizational EDIJ learning plans. Collaborate with Human Resources and management to promote equitable recruitment, hiring, onboarding, retention, and advancement practices. Review recruitment processes to reduce barriers and unconscious bias. Support implementation of Indigenous-informed practices and organizational learning opportunities, alongside and guided by the Indigenous Community of Practice at CMHA Lambton Kent. Coordinate and support the organization's EDIJ Committee. Develop meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, and monitor action items.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies, Equity Studies, Public Administration, Psychology, Health or Social Sciences, Human Resources or a related discipline. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice initiatives. Specialized training in Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, Human Rights, Accessibility, Indigenous Cultural Safety, or related fields is preferred. Demonstrated ability to research emerging equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice (EDIJ) trends, legislation, and best practices, and translate findings into actionable organizational recommendations. A valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle are required. Travel between Sarnia and Chatham will be required.
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week. Flexible hours are required to meet the position requirements.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education within the range: $31.60-$39.50 inclusive of HOOPP.
