How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team: The Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the accurate collection, verification and processing bi-weekly payroll. This role supports benefits administration for the TRCA. Major Responsibilities: Supports payroll system administration and quality assurance and control with a focus on accuracy Supports data integrity in the payroll system by conducting regular report audits; takes action to identify and address discrepancies Processes all employee group health benefits enrolments, changes and terminations Documents and communicates all employee benefits changes to the benefits provider Administers benefits change reports for internal purposes Provides various reports to internal and external stakeholders Incumbents may also be assigned other duties What will you need to succeed: Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses) Completion of college diploma in Payroll, Business Commerce, Accounting, or a related field Experience 1+ years of payroll and/or benefits related experience Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies Understanding and application of basic mathematical functions (e.g., adding, subtracting, measuring, money computation) Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct) Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs Basic computer proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint What TRCA has to offer you: As part of a progressive team you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact to preserving and protecting nature, while maintaining a balance between the natural environment and built environment. It owns more than 16,000 hectares (40,000 acres) of land in the Toronto region and employs more than 400 full-time employees and coordinates more than 3,000 volunteers each year. TRCA's area of jurisdiction is watershed-based, and includes 3,467 square kilometres: 2,506 on land and 961 water-based in Lake Ontario.
