Acting as a liaison between HR and branches, the HRBP drives recruitment, performance management, talent management, and change programs to optimize workforce effectiveness and engagement. The HRBP supports branch leaders in all areas of the employee life cycle, providing strategic advice and guidance to ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation and internal policies. The HRBP also plays an integral role in reviewing, updating, and creating internal policies to ensure they meet the legislative compliance standards and support organizational goals. What You Will Be Doing Working with senior management to determine current HR needs. Create strategic ways to improve the relationship between the company’s leadership and its employees. Support the evaluation of the branch and department needs linked to the organizational goals and objectives. Build process improvements in HR-related areas, ensuring goals and objectives are actioned. Oversee and participate in the talent acquisition process, extending this responsibility into talent management, and talent retention. Provide input into new HR policies in accordance with organizational goals, industry trends and labor laws or regulations. Ensure a strong understanding of laws and regulations to help the company stay in compliance. Stay current on HR trends to develop solutions using current best practices in the field. Day-today activities include: Supporting Occupational Health and Safety. Documentation management and maintenance. Responding to employee relation issues and provide solutions or redirect as quickly as possible. Ensuring HR activities and documentation are consistent with applicable policies and procedures, maintaining the strictest level of confidentiality. Participate in or lead ad-hoc HR related projects as they come up or as they are outlined through the HR workplan each year. Promotes the values of the organization within the workplace and in the community by demonstrating positive and professional relationships with others (employees, citizens, council, volunteers, advocates, etc.) Reports all unsafe conditions, hazards or practices, accidents and incidents in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and adheres to all Health and Safety requirements within the MNO’s policies and procedures and provincial legislation. Performs other job/branch-related duties as required. Qualifications College Diploma (1 or 2 year)in a related area (such as business administration, Human Resources Management). 3 to 5 years of experience in a Human Resources role with demonstrated experience handling progressively complex employee relation issues Strong desire to act in the service of Métis Citizens, to advance and uphold rights and culture. CHRP (Certified Human Resources Practitioner) Certification or willing to obtain. Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required. Experience in Ceridian Dayforce, and HR downloads, are assets. Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal. Highly detail-oriented. Enhanced levels of problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent project coordination, time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to solve conflicts and to manage challenging situations. Substantial knowledge of applicable employment legislation and regulations, such as but not limited to: Employment Standards Act, 2000, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, The Ontario Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act. Advanced skills in creating in employee life cycle activities: recruitment, training, coaching for performance, discipline, and termination. Thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the successful development of an organizational development program. Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and expand knowledge and to be flexible in a demanding and dynamic environment. In 1993, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) was established through the will of Métis people and Métis communities coming together throughout Ontario to create a Métis-specific governance structure and vision, encapsulated in the Statement of Prime Purpose.
Today, the Métis Nation of Ontario has built a province-wide governance structure which includes: an objectively verifiable, centralized registry of over 25,000 Métis citizens; 30 Chartered Community Councils across the province which represent Métis citizens at the local level; a provincial governing body that is elected by ballot box every four years; an Annual General Assembly where regional and provincial Métis leaders are required to report back to Métis citizens yearly between elections; a charitable foundation which promotes and support Métis culture and heritage (Métis Nation of Ontario Cultural Commission); and an economic development arm (Métis Voyageur Development Fund).
In addition, the Métis Nation of Ontario has built an accountable, results-based provincial delivery structure to meet the socio-economic needs of its citizens and communities. Currently, the MNO delivers programs and services to its citizens through these branches: Healing and Wellness; Education and Training; Housing; Lands, Resources and Consultation; Intergovernmental and Community Relations; Self-Government and Registry. Through these various branches, the MNO maintains 30+ service delivery access points across the province, administers budgets over $130 million annually.
