About the role

Overview Supervisor, Ontario Works - Development Opportunities Human Services- Income & Social Supports Status: Short Term Contract upto 12 Months; up to 2 positions Salary Range: Band I, Non Union Hiring Range: $105,754 per annum -$118,974 per annum Work mode: Hybrid; 2 Onsite days per week which can increase based on operational needs* see below for more details about this work mode. Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton & 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga Hours of work: 35 hours per week Who we are: The Income and Social Supports Division provides employment, financial and social support to residents of Peel to assist them in attaining an independent and stable role in the community. Through the Income and Social Supports Division, you will collaborate with internal staff and external community partners to enhance and support the Region of Peel’s vision of a Community for Life. Reports to: Manager, Client Services Team Structure: Leads a team of approximately 10 unionized staff What you will do in this role: Leads a team of employees who are responsible for the administration of both the employment and income aspects of the Ontario Works programs Overall staff management including coaching, training, development, mentorship, etc. of designated staff within the area Audits work of the team and conducts follow-up meetings with staff Provides training and advisory support Evaluates and monitors staff performance and achievement of objectives Completes and maintains statistical reports Interprets and evaluates information to improve existing programs or to develop new approaches or processes Ensures quality work delivery and that service standards are exceeded or met Uses considerable judgement to problem-solve and arrive at recommendations or conclusions Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias What the role requires: Post-secondary education in Social Services or a related discipline combined with least five years’ experience in the social services field Formal Mentoring or In-Charge/Acting Supervisor experience within Ontario Works/ Income and Social Supports Previous experience in a Caseworker or working experience within Ontario Works is required Preference given to active employees in the 'ISS Career Coaching program' along with a formal leadership career plan Experience using Social Assistance Technologies including SAMS, along with experience administering client assessments (stability supports, eligibility) Advanced knowledge of employment and income assistance programs Extensive knowledge of applicable legislative requirements and program controls Skills/Abilities: Well-developed communication skills both verbal and written Effective time management skills and the ability to work within a fast paced environment Ability to develop and monitor budgets Ability to interpret and evaluate information to improve existing programs or to develop new approaches or processes Ability to persuade, influence or negotiate with external contacts Perks @ Peel and why you will love working for us: % in lieu of benefits Flexible hours supporting your wellness and wellbeing Supportive leadership and a culture of respect and inclusion Access to learning and development resources Be bold. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
