About the role

The Role: Dodds Garage Doors is seeking a Senior HR Generalist & Talent Acquisition professional to lead HR operations and full-cycle recruitment across our locations in Southern Ontario. As the sole HR generalist for the organization, you will own recruitment and talent acquisition, employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, compliance and policy, health & safety, and performance management. The role reports to the President and partners closely with Service Managers at each location. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who wants to maintain and elevate an existing HR system.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate? The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in full-cycle recruitment and is comfortable working independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, service and trades environment. They bring sound judgement on compliance-sensitive matters, a practical understanding of Ontario employment law, and the ability to build trust with employees and managers across multiple locations. They are self-motivated, organized, and equally comfortable managing multiple priorities at once.

What You Will Do: • Lead full-cycle recruitment across all Dodds locations • Track recruitment metrics and maintain the Performance Index; conduct salary market research to keep postings and offers competitive. • Manage onboarding and off-boarding start-to-finish • Lead investigations and fact-finding on employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and workplace complaints. • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, HR policy questions, and benefits inquiries across all branches. • Manage the HR platform (Collage), keeping employee files, records, and reporting current across all locations; coordinate with Payroll and IT on employee changes, new hires, and terminations. • Administer group benefits: renewals, enrolments, changes, dependent coverage, beneficiary forms, and broker relationships. • Lead the quarterly performance review process, aligned with bonus metrics, and support managers with performance improvement plans. • Oversee health & safety programs, JHSC meetings, and the Excellence program; track employee safety certifications and equipment compliance. • Maintain and update the Employee Handbook, workplace policies, and required postings; manage annual policy sign-off. • Act as a change agent for HR programs and initiatives, contributing to continuous improvement of HR practices and strategy across the organization. • Produce HR reporting on other key metrics for leadership.

Expectations for Success: • Recruitment Velocity: Fill open roles efficiently without compromising candidate quality. • Compliance: Maintain accurate, audit-ready employee files and ensure policies meet current Ontario employment standards. • Employee Experience: Foster trust and responsiveness across all branches. • Stakeholder Partnership: Work effectively to align HR practices with business needs.

What You Bring to the Table: • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience • Proven full-cycle recruitment experience, including sourcing, interviewing, and offer management. • Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management; CHRP, CHRL, or CHRE designation is an asset. • Demonstrated working knowledge of Ontario employment and health & safety legislation. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Sound judgement and discretion when handling confidential and compliance-sensitive matters. • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities across multiple locations.

Additional Role Details: • Work Hours: Five days per week in office. • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. • Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 • Benefits: traditional benefits • Location: North York, ON, with regular support to branch locations
