Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite – 5 days/week)
Base Salary: $95,000–$125,000 + Bonus (dependent on experience)
The Client: Our client is a publicly traded Canadian mining company recognized for operational excellence, responsible resource development, and continued growth across North America. With a collaborative corporate finance team and a strong commitment to continuous improvement, they are seeking a Corporate Accountant to support corporate accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting functions at their Toronto head office.
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, this position offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure across corporate accounting operations while partnering closely with Finance and Human Resources teams in both Canada and Mexico. This is an ideal opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced public company environment and is looking to further develop their corporate accounting career.
What you will achieve in this role: • Support semi-monthly payroll processing, including benefits administration, RRSP adjustments, director fees, and payroll reconciliations • Prepare payroll journal entries in SAP while ensuring payroll reporting is accurate and compliant • Process payroll for expatriate employees, including tax withholdings, wire transfers, intercompany billings, and payroll documentation • Partner with Human Resources to maintain payroll master data and support annual government filings including T4s and employer remittances • Administer the Concur expense management platform, including employee setup, payment releases, e-transfer postings, and issue resolution • Assist with accounts payable processing, vendor payment proposals, payment runs, and vendor inquiries while maintaining strong financial controls • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities including accruals, depreciation, intercompany transactions, and journal entries • Prepare reconciliations, variance analysis, trial balance reviews, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate financial reporting • Support accounting for equity-based compensation and other corporate accounting transactions • Prepare and record intercompany transactions, including transfer pricing activities and related reconciliations • Review daily banking activity and prepare journal entries as required • Assist with internal and external audit requests while ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal control requirements • Identify opportunities to improve accounting, payroll, and financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy • Provide accounting support on special projects and ad hoc initiatives across the Finance team
What you must bring to this role: • CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA designation is preferred • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to corporate accounting, payroll, and accounts payable • Experience working within a multi-entity corporate environment • Public company accounting experience is highly preferred, ideally within mining, natural resources, or other publicly traded organizations • Experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes • Working knowledge of IFRS and corporate accounting principles • Experience processing payroll for both Canadian and expatriate employees is considered an asset • Experience with SAP is strongly preferred; exposure to Concur and Dayforce is considered a strong asset • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, analysis, and financial reporting • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and international teams • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidential information • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
