As a member of the Program and Curriculum Excellence team, Curriculum Quality Specialists play a key role in ensuring the quality and continuous improvement of academic programs and curricula. This position involves conducting data-driven assessments to evaluate program structures and course content, identifying opportunities for enhancement, and supporting the redesign of existing credit programs. Specialists integrate best practices, institutional policies, and frameworks such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE) to elevate curriculum standards. They also develop resources and provide guidance to faculty on implementing OBE principles and other curriculum best practices. Collaboration is central to this role, as Specialists actively engage in committees and working groups focused on program and curriculum development and assessment initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure Program and Curriculum Quality: Conduct thorough quality assessments of program structures and curriculum using data-driven approaches to identify areas for improvement, ensuring alignment and continuity across programs where necessary. Support Program and Curriculum Refreshing: Assist with redesigning existing credit curricula by integrating best practices, institutional policies, and frameworks to enhance quality; support program accreditation activities and facilitate program mapping as needed. Develop Faculty Resources and Support: Create resources and tools to aid faculty in designing and developing high-quality curricula and assessments; provide consultative support for academic policy and procedure development; promote data fluency and quality practices through projects and engagement activities. Collaborate Across Teams and Initiatives: Actively participate in or lead committees and working groups related to curriculum development and assessment; contribute to initiatives and practices that support student success; engage in regular work unit meetings and events. Engage in Professional Development: Pursue opportunities for ongoing professional growth, such as attending or presenting workshops, conferences, and other knowledge- and skill-building activities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) concepts and frameworks, including the development of learning outcomes and assessments. Familiarity with curriculum design processes, including course/program mapping, assessment alignment, and instructional strategies. Understanding of institutional frameworks and standards for program quality and evaluation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate curriculum effectiveness, address challenges, and propose improvements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas effectively to diverse audiences. Advanced facilitation and coaching skills to lead workshops, guide processes, and support academic programs. Proficient conflict and change management abilities to navigate and resolve issues during curriculum reviews and quality assessment processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education Other degrees with educational components (eg. curriculum development, instructional design, educational studies, etc.) or degrees in combination with a certificate in adult learning or higher education may be considered in lieu of an education degree. Teaching experience in adult learning environments an asset. Graduate degree in education an asset. Experience in a related role (i.e.. coaching academic staff with instructional or curriculum development) post-secondary experience is preferred
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES).
Classification – Curriculum and Instruction Specialist
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
Remuneration: Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Will commensurate with education and experience.
The compensation range for this job posting is : $80,356.81 - $121,547.31
