About the role

PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis, Mott MacDonald, and Weston Williamson + Partners. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel—including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.

JOB SUMMARY The HR Generalist will support the successful delivery of the Pearson Accelerator Construction Team (PACT) program by providing human resources, employee relations, onboarding, training, and workforce administration support across multiple project teams and partner organizations. Reporting to the HR Lead, this role will work closely with project leadership, Health & Safety, and employees to ensure a positive employee experience while supporting compliance, workforce planning, reporting, and talent initiatives. The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting a large, multi-employer infrastructure program operating within Toronto Pearson Airport and will contribute to the continued growth and success of one of Canada's largest airport infrastructure projects. RESPONSIBILITIES Support day-to-day HR operations and act as a first point of contact for employee inquiries. Lead and facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation activities for project employees. Coordinate employee onboarding requirements, including documentation, system access, training assignments, and compliance requirements. Support employee relations matters by providing guidance to employees and managers and escalating issues as required. Assist with investigations, documentation, and resolution of workplace concerns while maintaining confidentiality. Maintain employee records and HR information systems, ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Prepare and distribute regular HR reports and dashboards, including workforce metrics, headcount reports, turnover tracking, leave management, and resource planning reports. Support workforce planning activities and project staffing initiatives. Assist recruitment teams with hiring activities, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, hiring events, and onboarding logistics as required. Support performance management processes through coaching, education, documentation, and manager support. Coordinate leave of absence administration, return-to-work programs, accommodation requests, and employee wellness initiatives. Partner with Health & Safety teams to support training compliance, orientation records, workers' compensation administration, and project-specific safety initiatives. Track and maintain employee training records and support project training programs. Assist in the development and implementation of training and professional development initiatives. Participate in employee engagement activities, workforce communications, recognition programs, and project events. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and other talent development programs. Participate in career fairs, hiring events, and workforce development initiatives. Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned. Perform other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to Toronto Pearson Airport and project sites as required. The work schedule is generally Monday to Friday during regular business hours. Operational requirements may occasionally require flexibility outside of normal working hours. It is mandatory for all employees to complete a Criminal Background check and successfully attain a Restricted Access Identity Card (RAIC) upon joining the company. DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field. CHRP designation completed or in progress is considered an asset. Minimum 3-5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within construction, infrastructure, engineering, transportation, or project-based environments. Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, employment standards, human rights legislation, and workplace investigations. Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, onboarding, and workforce administration activities. Experience working within fast-paced and complex project environments. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with employees, leaders, and external stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams. Experience working with HRIS systems and reporting tools. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Ability to obtain and maintain RAIC clearance.
