Organization Details Organization Name: A & O: Support Services for Older Adults Address: 200-207 Donald Street

Our programs fall under 3 pillars of service: Safety & Security, Social Engagement and Counselling. Last year, we helped over 27,000 older Manitobans. Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 589 Description of Duties:
A & O Senior Immigrant Settlement Services requires culturally sensitive volunteers, who enjoy working with older adults to facilitate conversation classes for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.
The Volunteer
Assists participants in the program to achieve greater fluency and confidence in the English language through conversation in an informal group setting Facilitates English conversation circles using the program curriculum.
Skills Required
Strong leadership skills and experience in group work with excellent communication skills is a requirement.
Skills Gained/Related Careers
Group facilitation skills Leaderships skills EAL teacher
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+ Time Commitment:
Daytime
2 hours per week for 15 weeks (90-minute session & prep time).
Location of volunteer opportunity: Winnipeg Does opportunity require a criminal record check? No Does opportunity require a child abuse registry check? No Opportunity is available to candidates that: General Populace Organization will provide: A letter of reference
