Salary Range

Band 8 (Minimum- $76,023 , Control Point- $101,364, Maximum- $111,500).

Placement within a salary band is typically up to Control Point based on skills, experience and internal equity. May place over Control Point in limited circumstances.

The Opportunity

As a Human Resources Partner, you serve as a strategic advisor and first point of contact for your assigned client group. You bring independence, sound judgment, and initiative to every interaction, providing timely and practical guidance on a wide range of human resource matters, including employee and labour relations, performance management, change management, and workforce planning. You support recruitment, coach and influence people leaders, and help navigate difficult conversations and interpersonal conflict. You lead or support workplace investigations, conduct fact-finding processes, and prepare clear, professional documentation and reports. You play a key role in identifying and mitigating HR-related risks, implementing strategic HR initiatives, managing projects, and ensuring the consistent and compliant application of policies, procedures, and collective agreements across the institution.

What It Takes

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a focus in Human Resources Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. A CPHR designation is an asset; A minimum of four (4) years of generalist experience in Human Resources in a complex, multi-union, public sector environment, including experience in recruitment, benefits, human resources and labour relations advice, administration and interpretation of collective agreements, grievance processes, and human resources information systems ( HRIS ); Experience in identifying needs, planning, providing advice and giving guidance on a variety of initiatives that support strategic directions; Experience providing sound professional advice for all aspects of human resources to all levels of the organization. Strong critical thinking skills including the ability to ask relevant questions, analyze the information provided and make reasonable conclusions; Effective planning and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrated ability to model professional, ethical and collaborative behaviours, including dealing effectively with conflicting expectations and resistance;

This regular full-time position is available immediately.

Regular hours of work are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility is required to work at either the Coquitlam or New Westminster campus with an option for a part-time work from home arrangement. Occasional travel will be required between Douglas College locations.
