About the role

The Talent Acquisition Programs & Initiatives Lead partners closely with the Director and Manager of Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning. This role champions strategic programs through ongoing engagement with key stakeholders, by leveraging technology, data, and innovative leading practices, the role supports alignment with and delivery of the organization’s People Strategy.

  • Provides strategic consultation to hiring leaders for all management level recruitment, proactively sourcing candidates through platforms such as LinkedIn and Indeed to fill hard-to-fill positions. Ensures hires align with organizational values, demonstrate a commitment to equity, and possess the leadership skills needed to effectively guide their teams. Leads full cycle recruitment by: Job Postings, Advertising, sourcing and collaborating with recruitment agencies when needed.
  • Manage the Employee Referral Program, including program administration, employee engagement, and tracking referral outcomes.
  • Manage TA projects that support key organizational and recruitment strategies, particularly during periods of rapid growth. Responsibilities include assessing resource needs, planning timelines, identifying potential risks, and collaborating with management to establish deliverables and timelines.
  • In collaboration with Professional Practice and Hiring leaders, support the administration and successful rollout of the Ministry-funded programs (HHR) such as Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG), Clinical Extern Program, and Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP). Ensure alignment with organizational strategy and nurse development goals.
  • Support recruitment efforts with a focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Indigenous and Black hiring by contributing to strategy development, enhancing visibility, and expanding outreach initiatives.
  • Support the Manager/Director with strategic recruitment initiatives and analysis such as Social Media, HR-Workforce RN Turnover Predictor Tool (WRNPT), difficult to fill RN, RPN and other clinical roles.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and post-event analysis of career fairs with Talent Acquisition, hiring leaders, and the TA Manager. Ensure alignment with workforce needs, employer branding, diversity goals, and budget compliance.
  • Establish strong partnerships with career centers at colleges and universities to develop targeted strategies for filling hard-to-fill positions, while identifying programs aligned with these roles.
  • Oversee Unity’s foreign workers through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to apply for permanent residence in Ontario.
  • Attend Talent Acquisition Network Meetings to source and share external best practices and industry insights with the TA team during bi-weekly meetings.
  • In collaboration with TA Manager, ensure UHT’s approaches remain innovative, competitive, and aligned with current healthcare trends.
  • Analyze growth and attrition data to develop proactive TA strategies, including targeted search and technology improvements. Lead TA initiatives to enhance employer branding, attract top-tier diverse talent, and strengthen UHT’s market competitiveness.
  • Oversee interview guides and questions, incorporating ongoing hiring manager feedback to ensure tools remain user-friendly, effective, and aligned with organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with the Missions and Values team to maintain values-based interview questions as needed.
  • Oversee updates for the intranet page - Your Recruitment Resource Centre.
  • Develops and delivers training sessions for all programs within portfolio, and coordinates or participates in organizational meetings across the network to present content to key stakeholders.
  • First point of contact for all ATS related issues.
  • Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve identified gaps/errors/problems.
  • Provide input and recommendations for improvements in work flow to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to ensure that updates to the system are continuously assessed and that the system evolves to meet the changing needs of hiring leaders and the recruitment team. Add this as a standing agenda item to TA bi-weekly meetings.
  • In collaboration with BI, lead system build, upgrades, tests and design where needed to maintain data accuracy and integrity Collaborate with the BI team to monitor, report, and resolve technical issues within the ATS environment.
  • Oversee and manage the weekly audit reports ensuring that audits are completed by TAC’s prior to the feed each week and applicable updates are made by the TA team in advance of the feed to TR.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Skilled in strategically sourcing candidates across multiple platforms to attract and fill hard-to-fill positions.
  • CHRP designation or relevant equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including ability to negotiate and persuade others.
  • Proven ability to design and develop effective training materials on a variety of topics. Excellent organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage key stakeholders and leverage available resources to develop thoughtful and effective solutions.
  • Innovative HR professional who ensures human resource programs align with industry best practices and drive organizational effectiveness. Proficient in leveraging technology, strategies, and tactics to achieve objectives effectively. Sound knowledge of integrated Applicant Tracking and Human Resources Management systems.
  • Skilled at gathering ongoing feedback from key stakeholders to drive continuous improvements to the ATS, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of the recruitment processes.
  • Ability to work in an independent and self-directed manner while taking accountability for own actions required.
  • Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned area and/or across multiple areas, in a timely and respectful manner required.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to foster cooperation and work collaboratively within and across departments with a broad range of interest and a highly diverse work environment; Ability to engage and influence stakeholders, when necessary required.
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
