About the role
Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) Location: Northern British Columbia, Canada Contract Duration: 4–13 weeks with start dates available from the last week of July 2026, throughout August, September, and ongoing based on facility needs Employment Type: Contract Work Environment: On-site (Hospital Laboratory)

Key Responsibilities: Perform diagnostic laboratory testing in Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Transfusion Medicine (Blood Bank) Analyze specimens accurately and efficiently following laboratory protocols Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and analyzers Validate results and identify critical values requiring immediate reporting Maintain compliance with quality assurance, quality control, safety, and accreditation standards Follow infection control, WHMIS, and laboratory safety procedures Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams Maintain accurate documentation within laboratory information systems (LIS) Participate in quality improvement initiatives and best practices
Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program Current CSMLS certification (required) Eligible to practice as an MLT in British Columbia Minimum 6 months of recent hospital, acute care, or laboratory experience Generalist laboratory experience preferred Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Benefits & Compensation Pay Rate: $43–$55 CAD per hour Travel: Fully covered for approved travel expenses Accommodation: Fully provided or reimbursed Contract Length: 4–13 weeks with extension opportunities Flexible scheduling based on facility requirements Opportunity to gain experience across multiple healthcare facilities in British Columbia
