About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Payroll Analyst based in Canada.

This is a key role within a global payroll function responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with Canadian payroll regulations. You will play a critical part in maintaining payroll integrity across complex, high-volume data environments while supporting a fast-scaling, global organization. The role blends hands-on payroll processing with analytical review, systems coordination, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll operations and employee support. Beyond execution, you will contribute to process improvements and help strengthen payroll systems, controls, and documentation. Accountabilities

You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across Canadian payroll operations:

Process payroll changes using cloud-based payroll systems, ensuring timely and accurate employee compensation. Conduct pre- and post-payroll audits to validate data integrity and resolve discrepancies. Analyze earnings and deduction variances, investigating fluctuations and ensuring proper resolution. Manage payroll inquiries from employees, providing timely, accurate, and professional support. Partner with internal teams and external vendors to manage payroll files, integrations, and data exchanges. Support equity-related reporting and ensure accurate system alignment with payroll data. Contribute to year-end payroll activities including reconciliations, reporting, calendars, and employee communications. Identify and implement process improvements, including documentation of standard operating procedures. Support ad hoc payroll and reporting requests as required in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

You are a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong analytical capabilities and experience operating in a high-volume, structured environment:

3+ years of Canadian payroll experience with strong understanding of local compliance requirements. Advanced Excel skills with ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends or discrepancies. Experience with payroll systems such as Workday and/or CloudPay is strongly preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability in payroll processing. Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong initiative and self-direction. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, particularly in employee-facing situations. Experience working with vendors, payroll integrations, or cross-functional finance/HR teams is an asset.
