Job Description:
As a key member of the Human Resources team and under the leadership of the Human Resources Assistant/Manager, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for timely and accurate delivery of full-cycle payroll, group benefit entries & updates, maintaining employee data, handling payroll & benefit/compensation questions and completing any other tasks necessary for monitoring and overseeing the company’s overall compensation process. This role is also responsible for supporting various human resource functions, including but not limited to on-boarding, record keeping and various comprehensive and confidential administrative support.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Process and manage the full cycle payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations
- Complete various HR & payroll related entries in the company’s HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) and payroll software
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll regulations and labour laws, ensuring the organization's compliance
- Assist in the onboarding process by processing new hire paperwork
- Assist with employee benefit programs, including medical, pension, and other perks
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations related to attendance and leave
- Generate and analyze payroll reports for management review
- Prepare and submit required government reports and findings
- Assist in the resolution of payroll-related issues by working closely with various departments across the organization
- Utilize HRIS and payroll software to maintain accurate records and streamline processes
- Complete WSIB monthly premium reporting
- Process month-end duties, including accruals or reversals for vacation and WSIB, employee counts, KPIs, and other reports, as needed
- Complete year-end audit requirements and process T4 information.
- Act as primary payroll contact for all employees and Service Canada/government bodies
- Support HR initiatives and projects as assigned
- Produce, manage and file confidential materials
- Help to administer an employee oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
- Ensures team members are treated with respect and encourages an atmosphere of openness and fairness at all times
- Takes direction comfortably, able to multi-task, managing time efficiently to obtain optimum results
- Support with various team and individual employee recognition initiatives, committees, where needed
- Support 5S teams and initiatives, where needed
- Support the Health & Safety committee and initiatives, where needed
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in a Payroll &Benefits Administrator, or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in ADP’s Work Force Now platform preferred
- HRIS (Human Resources Information System) familiarity is strongly recommended
- Strong knowledge of employment & payroll laws and regulations in Ontario
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive & confidential information
- Ability to work proficiently in a team-oriented setting, as well as independently
- Above average problem solving and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Intuitive; able to anticipate needs and respond with a sense of urgency
- Action oriented, flexible, dedicated and committed
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal skills
- Strong morals and ethics, along with commitment to staff privacy
- Strong computer literacy, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including the ability to run and analyze detailed reports, work with formulas and large data sets, and prepare spreadsheets and reporting; proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and email also required
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
