The Work Experience (WEX) program builds on the University’s strong foundation in work-integrated learning (WIL), complementing its established Co-operative Education program.   The Work Experience (WEX) program is designed for all students in a WEX-approved academic program to have an opportunity to receive preparation and support from the Experiential Learning Hub (EL Hub) to participate in one paid work experience in a vocational setting related to their career goals during their degree program.   Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations – Co-operative Education & Work-Integrated Learning, the WEX Foundations Coordinator is responsible for the instruction, administration, and continuous improvement of Work Experience (WEX) courses at the University of Guelph. This role leads the design and delivery of structured WEX courses that prepare undergraduate and graduate students for the employment process and their work experiences through applied, skills-based learning.   As a key member of the Experiential Learning Hub, the incumbent supports student success, contributes to the growth and visibility of the WEX program, and collaborates with academic units, and internal teams to deliver high-quality WIL programming.   Duties and Responsibilities

Deliver and manage mandatory WEX courses using online platforms, ensuring effective instruction, student engagement, and a high-quality learning experience. Design research-based curriculum that increases students' employability skills and ability to successfully transition to the labour market. Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of WEX curriculum, course materials, and learning content, ensuring alignment with discipline-specific labour market trends and best practices. Prepare students for the job search and work experience through the development and instruction of interactive modules and assignments, including career exploration, resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and professional skills. Assess student learning, evaluate professional readiness, and assign grades in accordance with program requirements. Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and current WEX students, responding to inquiries and addressing course or program-related concerns. Conduct work term visits (virtual and in person) to support student learning, evaluate performance, and maintain strong employer relationships. Collaborate with academic units, admissions, and Experiential Learning staff to support program delivery, recruitment, and student participation. Contribute to outreach and promotional activities, including information sessions, recruitment events, and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Monitor course enrolment, track student outcomes, and support program evaluation, and reporting.

  Requirements

Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree or post-graduate certificate in work-integrated learning, career development, adult education, or a related field is preferred.  Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in career development, work-integrated learning, experiential learning, co-operative education, or a related student services environment.

Demonstrated experience in teaching, facilitation, and/or online instructional design. Strong advising and coaching skills, with the ability to support diverse student populations and a range of learning and employment needs. Experience working with international students, along with demonstrated application of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) principles in advising, teaching, or program delivery, are strong assets. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills. Knowledge of work-integrated learning, career development practices, labour market trends, and employment practices. Experience teaching and working in a post-secondary environment is preferred. Familiarity with the University of Guelph’s academic programs, structure, and departments is an asset. Proficiency with digital learning platforms (e.g., CourseLink/D2L) and Microsoft 365 tools. Familiarity with AI tools and digital technologies to support teaching, content development, and rubric development. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  Additional Information

Occasional travel may be required for work term visits.
