Quality Co-op Student
About the role
This is a co-op position, must be registered with a school.
Job Summary: This role is to assist the Human Resources department in day to day activities and Environmental Health and Safety tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
Pursuing a University or College degree in Human Resources Strong communicator in the English language, both written and verbal Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Critical Success Factors
Learn the business, understand the production process by walking the floor & participating in production meetings Ability to work independently without supervision and with minimum direction Ability to work in a team environment and be both a team player and team leader Ability to manage and direct subordinates on the day-to-day tasks in a fast paced environment Adopt a common sense approach to identifying and addressing problems and control weaknesses Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and at no time is the employee or their co-workers placed in an unsafe condition
Responsibilities
Develop inspection methods and procedures for use on the shop floor that are user-friendly and accessible. Maintain systems for the maintenance and calibration of metrological equipment. Administratively support the initiatives of the Quality Manager, including data management and tracking. Assist Quality and production staff with documentation Conduct other special projects during work term as designated Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial Canada rules, policies and procedures Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea Industrial Canada Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook Must understand the six elements of the Quality System, Record Retention, Document Control, Non-conforming Material, Corrective Action, Preventative Action and internal audits as well as department procedures.
Working Conditions
50% Office, 50% Plant floor (PPE require) Constant communication with employees, peers, and management Overtime as required
Effort/Physical Demands
Ability to work on computer for long periods of time Ability to be present on the production floor daily Must be able to lift up to 35lbs. Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less
Health And Safety Responsibilities
Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company Rules, Plant Rules, policies and procedures Must use or wear personal protective equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
