The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Come join us! We are hiring a permanent, Full-Time, Staffing Clerk with our Nursing Administration Department.
Pay Grid: $30.91 - $37.57 /hour
Working under the direction of the V.P. Clinical Programs and Ambulatory Care, the key function of the Staffing Coordinator is to ensure that all nursing units are adequately staffed which requires a solid knowledge of local Collective Agreements with regard to all aspects of scheduling. Inputs hours of work into the payroll system for nursing staff. Works closely with V.P. Clinical Programs and Ambulatory Care, Nurse Managers and Coordinators.
Duties will include but are not limited to: Requires a solid knowledge base of the union contracts. Communicates the Collective Agreements to new nursing managers. Acts as a consultant on staffing issues for nursing when required. Receives sick notes from staff. Replaces sick calls, cover leaves of absence due to illness, compassionate leave or approved personal leave as per union contracts. Notifies the appropriate Nurse Managers of the changes. Schedules escorts for patients going out for tests or appointments by Ambulance or other transportation. Schedules appropriate replacement coverage for emergency stat requests. Collects and maintains shift availability for all nursing staff for both unions. Provide input for CUPE and ONA Local negotiations when requested. Attend ONA Local Negotiation Meetings and participate when requested. Notifies H.R. Coordinator of all staff that have not shown Nursing Admin. Office their C.O.N. registrations so that appropriate action may be taken. Maintains records of names, numbers, and units' staff may be called to work on call-in lists. Gives report re staffing issues to evening coordinators. Assists in redirecting qualified staff to areas of the Hospital that need help. Tracks and records overtime and ambulance slips. Works closely with Human Resources and Occupational Health Nurse. Meets with V.P. Clinical Programs and Ambulator Care re staffing problems and discuss possible solutions. Answers phones for Nursing Office and other Administration Offices as needed. Inputs hours of work for all nursing staff into the payroll system weekly. Files payroll information.
Qualifications: Graduate of an approved Office Administration program or related course; 5 years of staffing/scheduling/payroll experience, preferably in a hospital and unionized setting, preferred Extensive experience in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, scheduling software, etc. Familiar with interpreting Collective Agreement language (ONA and CUPE) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills Skilled at working in fast-paced environments, with frequent interruptions. Capable of working independently, exercising sound judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making. Other responsibilities as required.
