Position Profile

The Human Resources Generalist will provide comprehensive support to the organization in the areas of disability management and claims coordination for both occupational and non-occupational accidents/injuries. The role involves working closely with employees, healthcare providers, and external agencies to ensure safe and timely reintegration into the workplace, while continuously improving the claims management performance through proactive prevention programs. The role also supports the HR Team with other aspects of the company’s requirements.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and management regarding claims management inquiries, providing expert guidance and support Act as a subject matter expert on disability management issues and employee claims status Coordinate with injured workers from all locations to facilitate recovery at work, and modified duties. Partner with branches to obtain up to date availability of modified duties positions and prepare offers of return to work Work with officials in making decisions to prevent, reduce and control workers’ compensation claims and administration costs for all company locations Work closely on claims cost saving initiatives and educating managers on early and safe RTW Accurately complete and submit all necessary documentation for claims processing and monitor status changes in the system. Notify payroll of any changes as required Lead the administration and coordination of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury claims, including WSIB, WCB, WorkSafe BC, EI Sick Leave, and LTD. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate appropriate interventions and support employees' safe and timely return to work Establish and maintain effective communication with medical professionals, WSIB, WCB, WorkSafe BC, and LTD providers, and other relevant parties to ensure the exchange of claim information and coordination of return-to-work efforts Maintain awareness of both federal and provincial workers' compensation statutes, regulations or jurisprudence that impact claims management Create and implement Wellness and Healthy Workplace initiatives Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives, wellness activities, contests, recognition programs, and workplace events that support a positive employee experience and company culture Administer and oversee the company's uniform program, including coordinating orders, managing vendor relationships, resolving employee inquiries, and ensuring timely distribution of uniforms and branded apparel Coordinate employee service award and recognition programs, including milestone celebrations, award selection, ordering, and communications to recognize employee achievements Acts as a back-up for the HR Recruiter and the Health & Safety Coordinator Other HR Generalist duties as assigned Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

A minimum of 1-2 years of employee relations, disability management, and return to work programs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to exercise judgement, tact, and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations, disability management principles, and Occupational Health and Safety and Worker's Compensation Legislation Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision Good problem solving and decision-making skills Strong MS Office Computer skills

Physical Demands

Sedentary physical demand level Light strength – occasional lifting of up to 10kg Hand and finger dexterity required Occasional standing and walking about the office required Limited bending, light lifting, stretching, twisting, or climbing is required
