Job Description Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources, the Director, Total Rewards is accountable for NAIT’s total rewards portfolio including compensation, benefits, payroll, pension, job evaluation/classification, recognition, and total rewards analytics. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for NAIT’s total rewards portfolio to support institutional priorities, employee experience, fiscal stewardship, and compliance. The role leads the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of compensation, benefits, pension and retirement programs, payroll, job evaluation and classification, recognition frameworks, pay administration, and total rewards analytics. The Director leads an approximately 12-13 person team of professionals, including the Payroll Manager, and is accountable for the budget and resource planning of the total rewards function. This position is a member of the Human Resources leadership team and contributes to the vision, strategy, priorities, and overall effectiveness of the HR function at NAIT. Key Responsibilities Developing and leading NAIT’s total rewards strategy and roadmap by providing strategic leadership, governance and stakeholder advice Leads the design, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation frameworks, salary structures, job evaluation methodologies, job architecture, classification practices, and related policies Oversees the design, administration, vendor management, evaluation, and communication of employee benefits, pension and retirement programs Has overall accountability for NAIT’s payroll function through the leadership of the Payroll Manager, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services Leads, coaches, and develops a total rewards team; establishing clear expectations and accountability Skills & Abilities Excellent leadership and teamwork skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management and organization skills Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with various stakeholders Comprehensive knowledge of legislation, collective agreements, policies, financial considerations Accountable for providing clear direction, establishing measurable expectations and maintaining service excellence Exercises sound judgment, professionalism and integrity when dealing with sensitive issues Strong knowledge of legislation, regulations, collective agreements, pension plans, and institutional policies governing compensation, payroll, benefits, privacy, and employment practices Strong understanding of NIAT’s organizational structure, governance, strategic priorities, employee groups, and the post-secondary/public sector environment Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study 5 -7 years related experience is required Experience working in HRIS Equivalencies will be considered Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES). Remuneration Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
