Buy-Low Foods is a division of Pattison Food Group Ltd. and certified a Great Place to Work®. We are looking for a Department Manager, Bakery to join our Buy-Low Foods location in Houston, BC. The successful candidate must have open availability and be available for 40 hours per week. You will be responsible for: Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service. Ensuring the department executes and achieves operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising. Engaging and retaining team members through training, rewards/recognition, and succession planning. Supporting with team member related initiatives (e.g. performance management, administration of collective agreement terms (if applicable), and conflict resolution). Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Supporting the management team in reviewing and analyzing income statements and identifying opportunities to improve performance within the department. Reviewing and interpreting department financial reports and presenting KPIs to the management team. Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department. Assisting the management team with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty. Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required. Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments. You have: 1-3 years of retail experience. Leadership experience is an asset. Food Safe Certification. A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset. Experience and/or knowledge with: Achieving sales targets and profitability. Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales. Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring). Employee Relations and knowledge of the collective agreement (if applicable). Scheduling. Proficiency with computer applications. Committed to maintaining department standards with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring operational excellence. Results-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
