Unit Summary
The Ability and Attendance team within Health, Safety and Wellness at Hamilton Health Sciences is accountable for the disability management, accommodation, return to work and attendance management processes through an effective incident capture, triage and response process and for providing the supports necessary to enable reasonable and regular attendance at work by all staff.m.
Position Summary
The Case Manager is responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the disability management, return to work and accommodation processes for employees who are absent due to occupational and non-occupational illness or injury. He/she will work with external contractors and agencies to coordinate the timely adjudication of benefits. He/she will support employees who are off, ensuring that they stay connected with the workplace and have sufficient information about the process, roles and responsibilities, and next steps.
Schedule Work Hours
Monday to Friday; days
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a related field Certified Disability Management Professional or Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation Certification Human Resources Professional (CHRP) preferred Five (5) years or more years of progressive experience in disability management and return to work Knowledge and proven understanding of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code Experience working in a large, diverse, highly unionized environment Excellent analytical and report preparation skills Strong experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of best practice in disability management and return to work Creative problem solver with the ability to interact with individuals in a high-performing work culture Proven ability to interface effectively with management at leadership teams Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust at all levels of the organization; excellent relationship-building skills, influential and persuasive communication skills, and presentation skills Demonstrated passion for healthcare which will result in an active role as change agent driving our organizations performance Ability to develop partnerships and achieve results through others using motivation principles and negotiation skills; ability to work collaboratively within HHS and across partner institutions Strong results orientation and an energy and enthusiasm to work through a system with multiple challenges. Knowledge and experience working within a structured approach of program development Demonstrated ability to manage own work effectively and independently Willingness to be flexible with working hours to suit operation requirements Working knowledge of MS Office, Internet, e-mail and HRIS applications is required
