This is a Regular Full-Time, on-site position based at Women’s College Hospital Type: Replacement We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager, Volunteer Resources, to lead the Volunteer Resources Program at Women’s College Hospital (WCH). This role ensures that volunteers are supported, engaged, and empowered to enhance patient care and the overall hospital experience. A key aspect of this position is a strong, collaborative partnership with the Association of Volunteers, which serves as a primary relationship in advancing volunteer engagement at WCH. The Manager, Volunteer Resources is an ex officio member of the Executive of the Association of Volunteers and plays an integral role in aligning volunteer strategy with the hospital’s overall strategic priorities. Summary of duties, but not limited to: Strategic Leadership Contributes to the development of strategic plans within the organizational portfolio and partners closely with hospital staff, leadership, and the Association of Volunteers. Acts as an ex officio member of the Executive of the Association of Volunteers, contributing to strategic planning, governance discussions, and alignment between the Association and hospital priorities. Provides leadership for the development of the Volunteer Resources Program in a manner that promotes the delivery of optimal care and service, aligned with the short- and long-term strategic directions of Women’s College Hospital. Prepares long-range strategies to ensure all stakeholders are effectively supported by quality standards consistent with leading practices across hospital programs and policies. Program Management Plans and leads volunteer recognition initiatives in collaboration with the Association of Volunteers and hospital staff, promoting regular and meaningful recognition. Ensures the development and implementation of hospital policies, procedures, and practices that guide volunteer service delivery; allocates resources to meet program objectives and fosters collaboration among volunteers, patients, staff, physicians, families, and community partners. Manages and reviews workload expectations and schedules for staff and volunteers within the Volunteer Resources Program. Collaborates with hospital leadership to ensure appropriate utilization and supervision of volunteers, working with staff to design meaningful and suitable volunteer roles that comply with collective agreements. Ensures the collection and reporting of accurate statistics related to volunteer hours and service areas. Develops, reviews, and administers evaluation tools for the Volunteer Resources Program, incorporating feedback from both volunteers and staff. Represents Volunteer Resources at external community events and builds partnerships that promote volunteerism. Coordinates and prioritizes hospital-wide requests for volunteers, assessing risk management considerations and impacts on unionized roles, and maintains tracking tools to report activity. Develops and implements recruitment and retention strategies to ensure sufficient volunteer capacity across hospital programs and services. Supports hospital staff and partners in understanding appropriate volunteer roles and best practices for working effectively with volunteers in a healthcare environment. Financial Management Develops an Annual Program Budget for operational expenses, capital expenditures and income. Collaborates with the Director, Human Resources & Volunteer Services in prioritizing available resources to meet program objectives and analyzes and reports on budgets throughout the fiscal year. Forecasts needs for the program budget. Human Resource Management Works collaboratively with staff and the Association of Volunteers to develop recruitment plans that ensure adequate volunteer coverage across the hospital. Oversees the recruitment, screening, orientation, training, and performance management of volunteers and staff within the program. Monitors occupational health and safety considerations and promotes training and development opportunities aligned with program objectives. Quality Improvement Develops and monitors quality indicators for Volunteer Resources, collaborates in related Quality Improvement and Risk Management (QI/RM) initiatives; monitors service delivery frameworks against developing trends within the profession and makes changes to promote improved service delivery. Ensures annual review of Emergency Codes for all staff and volunteers. Ensures program policies and procedures are accurate and up to date. Ensures all forms and documents utilized by the program are standardized and meet hospital requirements. Ensures position descriptions are created and accurate for each volunteer program and that each volunteer within that program receives a copy. Ensures that all written materials pertaining to the programs are accurate and up to date. Ensures an open-door policy is in effect at all times to allow feedback and to resolve any concerns within the Program. As a role model and champion you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.
