  PAYROLL SPECIALIST Reporting to the Sr. Payroll Specialist, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the full-cycle payroll processing for approximately 1,300 employees and for responding to payroll inquiries, interpreting and applying payroll rules and regulations, and implementing best practices in a high-volume, multi-jurisdictional payroll environment.   LOCATION AND STATUS

Calgary, AB Full-time, Temporary (8 Months)

  JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the entire payroll process for a multi-jurisdictional payroll of approximately 1,300 employees. Process payroll accurately and on time using Avanti Payroll and HRIS. Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations regarding payroll taxes, deductions, and reporting. Liaise with other departments, employees, and managers to resolve payroll issues and inquiries. Assist in the development and implementation of company payroll policies and procedures. Maintain current knowledge of payroll legislation, employment standards, and regulatory requirements. Support year-end activities including T4s, ROEs, PIER reviews, and other payroll reporting requirements. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and enhance operational efficiency.

  QUALIFICATIONS

PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) Certification. 5+ years of experience in a similar role. Experience using Avanti is preferred. Strong understanding of payroll principles, practices, and regulations (T4s, ROEs, EHT, PIER, etc.). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.

Confident user of the Microsoft Office Suite of products and familiar with payroll software
