The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function across the Carlson Construction Group. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is a trusted advisor to executive leadership and Business Unit General Managers, shaping people strategy and culture across a dynamic, multi‑company organization.

This is a hands‑on leadership role for an HR professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, operational environment and is passionate about building strong teams, scalable HR practices, and a positive workplace culture.

Purpose of the Role

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and executing the HR strategy for the Carlson Group of companies. The role ensures the attraction, retention, and engagement of top talent while supporting sustainable business growth, strong leadership capability, and a values‑driven culture.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with executive leadership and business unit leaders to provide strategic HR guidance across workforce planning, people strategy, and organizational development
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve HR strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee all core HR functions, including:
  • • Recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Compensation and benefits administration
  • Employee relations and performance management
  • Organizational change and workforce planning
  • Succession planning, learning, and development
  • Stay current on emerging HR trends, labour market insights, and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on the organization
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team while managing departmental budgets and operations
  • Act as a key contributor to strategic planning and executive decision‑making

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

We’re looking for a well‑rounded HR leader who brings:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience
  • CPHR designation (or working toward) considered a strong asset
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and manage complex people matters
  • Strong business acumen, judgment, and communication skills
