In 1994, Cyril and Penny White became the sole owners of W.C. Hiltz Funeral Home Company Limited. In 2000, the business adopted the name White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Today, we continue to be a family-owned and operated funeral home, led by Cyril and Penny alongside their sons, Jeff and Greg, third-generation funeral directors.

We are seeking a compassionate, professional, and dedicated Funeral Director to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who values serving others with dignity, empathy, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
• Respond to initial transfer calls with professionalism and care.
• Meet with families to arrange and coordinate funeral, memorial, and cremation services.
• Guide families through service options with compassion, respect, and understanding.
• Coordinate all aspects of services from planning through completion.
• Prepare and complete all required legal documents, permits, and registrations.
• Liaise with cemeteries, crematories, clergy, florists, musicians, and other service providers.
• Direct visitations, funeral services, celebrations of life, and graveside services.
• Ensure every service is carried out with dignity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and company policies.
• Participate in an on-call rotation. Weekend availability is required, with evening responsibilities, as needed. Overtime opportunities are available.
Qualifications
• Licensed Funeral Director, or eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional in emotionally sensitive situations.
• Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, including lifting, transferring, and equipment using safe work practices and appropriate assistance when required.
• Previous funeral service experience is an asset; however, we welcome applicants with the appropriate education and qualifications who are new to the profession.
