About the role

Equity Exploration is a fast-growing mineral exploration consulting and mineral exploration project management company with deep roots and broad experience in the minerals industry within Canada and the USA. Since 1987, our projects have spanned the mineral discovery life-cycle: from grassroots surface projects to significant resource definition drilling programs in support of large-scale mining operations. We approach our work with fairness and honesty (our company name is no coincidence…) and an intentional part of our culture is actively mentoring and developing our team members. At Equity, we value teamwork, accountability, adaptability and integrity and strive to provide a safe and enjoyable work environment.

About your team The People & Culture (P&C) team is small yet mighty and operates in strategic partnership with the business, driving the continuous evolution of people and leadership practices and cultivating a culture of high performance teams.

Your opportunity As the P&C Lead, you will lead the team to drive business outcomes through the development and execution of people programs and initiatives. You will provide strategic guidance and expertise in the areas of organizational design and workforce planning, performance management, talent acquisition, people operations, employee engagement and relations and change management. You will report to the CEO and enjoy a hybrid work model.

What you’ll do Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, accountability, and high performance. Manage the performance management program, including performance reviews, career development planning, professional development opportunities and succession planning. Support and coach leaders on communication, feedback, employee development and people leadership best practices. Lead talent acquisition and support workforce planning by partnering with leaders to define hiring needs and role requirements and execute recruitment plans. Coordinate compensation and benefits reviews and provide recommendations to leadership to ensure our Total Rewards program remains competitive and aligned with business needs. Design, implement and continuously improve onboarding programs, employee training initiatives and operational systems orientation. Analyze and monitor employee metrics, data and feedback to identify trends and support informed decision-making. Oversee management of HRIS (Collage HR), employee records, and processes ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and operational effectiveness. Ensure compliance with employment legislation, regulatory requirements and company policies. Manage employee relations matters, conduct workplace investigations as required, and provide guidance on employee concerns and workplace issues. Support organizational initiatives related to risk management, employee engagement, and continuous improvement. Manage employee immigration process and maintain current knowledge of regulations, work permits and visa requirements. Coordinate events to support recruitment initiatives, employee development and engagement.

What you’ll need You have a degree (preferably BA, BSc but not necessarily) and solid work and life experience! 5+ years working in the field of People & Culture and demonstrated experience leading projects, operations and people (CPHR is a nice to have). You are a natural leader who builds trusting relationships throughout the business. You have the ability to coach and advise at all levels and enjoy helping employees develop their careers. You have excellent listening and communication skills, are comfortable with changing priorities and communicating complex change. You have strong problem solving skills and use data to craft the best solutions. You are comfortable working with employees based in multiple office and field locations and can quickly build an understanding of complex business needs. You thrive in fast-paced working environments and are comfortable asserting yourself to gain the information you need to move a project forward. You are a team player through and through and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to do what it takes to get the job done.
